Dec 09 statement was a collective decision : Chidambaram
Union minister for home P Chidambaram has hinted at holding an all-party meeting to discuss the Justice Srikrishna Committee’s report after the Assembly elections in five states, and appealed to the people of the state to maintain restraint till the central government resolves the issue.
Chidambaram is learnt to have made the appeal when a delegation of the Telangana Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers met him yesterday. According to the TJAC convener K Swamy Goud, Chidambaram said that his announcement pertaining to Telangana state formation on December 9, 2009 was not an individual statement but was a collective decision of the central government.
The delegation has been meeting all ministers and other stakeholders in New Delhi seeking speedy delivery of separate Telangana state keeping in view the growing differences between the people of Telangana and Rayalaseema-Andhra regions. “We gave a representation to the Union home minister requesting him to abide by the December 9 announcement. We are satisfied with his response and are confident that the Centre will keep its word. If it fails, we will take firm decisions to strengthen the Telangana-movement,” he said.
The delegation will stay in New Delhi for a few days more and are awaiting an appointment with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, prime minister Manmohan Singh, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.

Baba Ramdev wants Centre to expedite formation of Telangana
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has said that the Centre should “immediately” come out with a “clear view” over Telangana and not have any objections in granting separate statehood to the region.
“Pure Telangana me naye Bharat ke nirman ke saath saath ek naye Telangana ke nirman ki awaz uth rahi hain“, (A voice for creation of Telangana besides new India is getting louder in the region), said Ramdev at a Yoga camp here.
He said the government should immediately take a clear decision on the issue adding that the Centre should not have any objections for carving out Telangana as it was an independent state earlier.
“I feel that in the name of Telangana there should not be any more violence and struggle in society”, the Yoga guru said.
Ramdev said he favoured smaller states for the sake of administrative convenience and faster development.
He expressed concern on the issue of rising corruption and black money in the country adding that people of the region always wanted a separate Telangana state.
Haridwar-based Baba Ramdev, who is planning to float a political party, had said in Visakhapatnam last week that he would finalise name of the party after June this year.
He has been touring Andhra Pradesh this month as part of his yoga camps.

Mock Assembly rocks !
Legislators from the Telangana region, who have been boycotting the Andhra Pradesh assembly, Monday held a mock Telangana assembly urging the central government to immediately table a bill in parliament for forming a separate state.
As many as 30 legislators belonging to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attended the mock assembly, organised by Telangana Journalists’ Forum.
Ruling Congress party legislators, however, stayed away from it, prompting members of other parties to warn that the people of Telangana would teach them a lesson.
The mock assembly was held on a day when Congress legislators decided to end their boycott and return to the assembly. This followed their meeting with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and state Congress chief D. Srinivas.
The two leaders urged the legislators not to put the government in trouble by continuing their boycott and assured them that the state government would abide by the decision of the central government on the Telangana issue.
Even as the Congress legislators were meeting the chief minister, the legislators from other parties held the mock assembly and passed a resolution seeking a bill in parliament. They also paid tribute to those who committed suicide for Telangana.
Harishwar Reddy of the TDP was elected as speaker. TDP members N. Janardhan Reddy and M. Narasimulu said they were all ready to resign for the sake of a separate state.
Janardhan Reddy said frustrated over the delay in the formation of a separate state, 600 students and youth had committed suicide. ‘There is no other option but to carve out a separate Telangana state,’ he said.
Earlier, he told reporters that the present Andhra Pradesh assembly had turned into an ‘Andhra assembly’ as all Telangana legislators were boycotting it. He advised Andhra leaders to hold the assembly in their own region.
Legislators of the TRS, the TDP and the BJP are boycotting the assembly for the last two weeks as their demand to pass a resolution for a separate state were rejected by the government.
In 294-member assembly, 119 members are from Telangana while the remaining 175 are from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
The Telangana Joint Action Committee, which is spearheading the Telangana movement, has also announced that it would hold the ‘last rites’ of the assembly March 18, as ‘it is one month since it died’.

Is Madhu Yashki trust worthy?
I’ve been adamant follower of Mr. Madhu Yashki till a few months back. Recently his commitment towards telangana formation arises more questions than answers. Just now I was watching his interview on ABN open heart with RK. I would like to throw some light on the remarks he made in the interview:
1) He wants TRS to merge with Congress for realizing telangana state:
Mr. Yashky, how many time your congress betrays telangana people. Why shouldn’t TRS get the credit if telangana state is realized? You T Congress people are talking about telangana only when the heat is generated with the great efforts of TRS and people of telangana.
You can’t even get the permission for Million march. I doubt if you’ve any have any contribution to the successful gathering on Tankbund. When all other communities were ready for sacrifices while taking the risk of gathering at Tankbund against arrests/harassment by the police, you suddenly want to become a hero out of this gathering.
TRS should in no case merge with congress. What happened when T betrayer Chenna Reddy joined hands with congress in 1969, telangana people are not sacrificing for the interest political parties like Congress.
2) He thinks attack on him (Yashky) and KK will create hurdle in process of telangana separation:
Mr. Yashky, your remarks doesn’t have any logic. Telangana community is not begging congress for T separation, now those days are gone. This million march is just the beginning and we telangana community will compel you to the cause.
Now T people have turned dumb ears to your (Congress) foolish arguments that we should agitate peacefully. Now we know how to compel the congress party and what language it hears. One thing is true your fear is genuine that congress will be dumped in all forth coming elections in Telangana.
3) He thinks not all andhra owned media is biased in projecting telangana agitation:
Mr. Yashky, even a child from telangana knows whats the reality. And its sad you speaking to andhra media denying this fact. Even the channel he was giving interview to is a pro andhra channel.
4) He will resign if government doesn’t decide for separate Telangana by May 10 2011:
Mr. Yashky, don’t make murky of your resignation statements. Telangana people very well know that you are seeking one more extension to the resignation. By the end of May 2011 I’m sure T people will again listen the statement from you “If I resign will telangana state be created!”.

We don’t need statues on Tank Bund : Owaisi
Blasting at the ruling congress party in assembly over deferring the decision on Telangana, Akbaruddin Owaisi said “If we are discussing this (tank bund statues) issue, we should also discuss the unjust caused to Telangana and the suicides in Telangana.”
“Why are Telangana legislators not in house? If they are out Telangana people are out.” he added. He also said that there is no need to erect the statues again on the Tank Bund and that the Hussain Sagar is beautiful as is.

Students across India stage dharna in Delhi supporting Telangana
Students from various organisations across the country staged a dharna in Delhi demanding that a bill for the formation of a separate Telangana state be introduced in the ongoing budget session.

Cases filed against KCR, KTR, Harish Rao, Kodandaram and others
The Hyderabad Police have registered 16 cases against pro-Telangana activists, including TRS leaders K Chandrasekhar Rao, Harish Rao, KTR and others in connection with the violence during the ‘Million March’ yesterday. KCR, Harish Rao and Kodandaram were booked under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.
Cases for attempt to murder have been filed against unnamed persons.
The charges include desecration and demolition of statues of eminent Telugu personalities, attack on the police and media personnel, among other things, he said.
Commenting on the registration of cases, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that it was done to please the Chief Minister, who hails from non-Telangana region. He added that police had taken into custody scores of people who had nothing to with the ‘million march’.
TRS leaders today met police officials and demanded that the Telangana supporters, who were arrested, be produced in court.

నా బిడ్డలు ఏరి..
ఓ గురజాడా, ఎర్ర ప్రగడ, ఇంకా ప్రజా కవులారా..
మీరు చేసిన తప్పంతా..
రక్త మాంసాలు తినే నర రూప రాక్షసుల చేతుల్లో పడడమే,
మిమ్మల్ని అడ్డం పెట్టుకొని మా జాతి ని మట్టు బెట్టి,
మా చరిత్ర సమాధుల మీద మిమ్మల్ని నిలబెట్టడమే
మేము గురి పెట్టింది మిమ్మల్ని కాక పోవచ్చు,
మీరు చేసిన కృషిని కాకపోవచ్చు..
మా ఆక్రోశం బద్దలు అయింది
భాల్ల్లున పగిలింది మీ బొమ్మల పైన..

మా చరిత్రలు నిలబడేది
ఒకటి అంతం అయితేనే మరొకటి మొదలు..
మా జాతి కోసం ప్రాణాలు అర్పించిన
అమర వీరుల సమాధులకు కూడ
జాగా లేదు, వారికి చోటియ్యనియండి,
బొమ్మలకి బాద పడే మీరు..
బిడ్డలు కళ్ళముందు కాలుతుంటే
ఒక్క కన్నీటి బొట్టు కూడ రాల్చ లేదే?
కవితలు రాల లేదే, పుస్తకాలు అచ్చు కాలేదే ?
మీ మాటలు కత్తుల్ల దిగుతుంటే
ముక్కలైన మా మట్టిని ,
బూడిదైన మా సంస్కృతిని
మళ్లీ నిలబెట్టుకున్దామనే
చరిత్రని మల్లా తిరగ రాస్తున్నాం,
ఇక్కడ మీకు , మీ గొప్ప చరిత్రలకు
స్తానం లేదు..అందమైన విగ్రహాలకు
విడిది కాదు నా ఇల్లు,
ఆగమైతున్న బతుకు చిత్రాలకు
కొలువు..

గర్భ శోకంతో కుంగి పోతున్నాం..
మోసాలకు ఎత్తులకు జిత్తులకు
విసిగి వేసారి ఉన్నాం..
కొలిమిల్లాగా మండుతున్నాం..
దగ్గర కొస్తే ఆగం అయితారు..
మాట్లాడే సహనం లేదు,
బ్రతిమిలాడే క్వాయిష్ అంత కన్న లేదు
మిగిలినవి చేతలు , చేతులే ..
ఆవేశం అంటుకున్నది
ఆవేదన అలుముకున్టున్నది..
మంచి చెడుల మధ్య
చెరిగిన రేఖ..
న్యాయ అన్యాయాల మధ్య నలిగిన
సత్యం..
ఇప్పటికైనా …
నా భూమ్మీద నా బిడ్డలకే హక్కు..
మేమూ ప్రజా కవులను ప్రేమిస్తాం..
మీ చరిత్రనూ నిలబెడతాం..
మా చేతుల మీదుగా
మేము ప్రశాంతంగా
స్వేచ్చగా గాలి పిలచిన రోజు..

The rise and fall of statues on Tankbund
Statues on tank bund are felled. Statues are of the ones, who were stalwarts, who were never petty or parochial nor had any viciousness of SA leadership. Never should we compare them with the crony capitalists and the Andhra ruling midgets. This destruction, in a way, slights their contribution; but these statues are caught up in the cross-fire between the indolent and intransigent state/central governments and the relentless Telanganites. These are destroyed out of anger against Andhra rulers rather than anger on them per se.
But I must also say that there is another side to it as well; more about flesh, blood and life of struggling Telangana people. A civilised world should be more worried about people than the statues.
The Andhra media is shouting hoarse describing the agitators as lumpen disturbing the order. It is similar to white right winger press crying hoarse when blacks revolted in America and South Africa.
Setting the illegality of the act aside and wishing that it would not happen again, let us look at the ones who installed them on the bund. By reading installers and their minds, we get the social construct and the deeper meaning behind the rise and fall of the statues. Let us look at it as social scientists and not as advocates of one cause or the other.
There is a social agenda in erecting them in Hyderabad. When British came to India they brought English language first. When laissez-faire (free market) enters in the name of reforms, coca cola heralds it. Europeans (Spanish) took their religious icons to subjugate after conquering Latin America.
Similarly, for cultural enslavement, Andhra elite have brought in these icons as cultural weaponry to dismiss our very own identity.
Tank bund was built by Hussain, a Sufi engineer 200 hundred years ago. NTR/TDP changed the very character of the region by wholesale importation of the Andhra culture, cultural and historical icons. Historically important Husain’s tank bund was defaced. This ‘period’ structure was distorted. It is an assault on native Hyderabadi and Telangana culture, as Shilparamam is an onslaught on NUMAISH and telangana cultural ethos. Victorious roman conquerors and British conquerors put their statues on the land of the vanquished in a similar way. Jagan wants to seal his grip on the people by YSR statues, like land mines are planted so that no one moves away from him. It is not about Krishna deveraya in that statue. He was great by himself. But there is also an Andhra social and political order in it. There is thought control in it. There is suzerainty and Andhra cultural hegemony in it. NTR’s carving out of the above statue in his own image tells it all, that it is symbolic of the Andhra ruling elite power over the natives.
By submerging it in Husain-sagar waters Telanganites have symbolically washed themselves of this. It is declaring their cultural independence and with their collective unconscious they have declared that they are a separate state and culture and they have nothing in common culturally with Andhra.
If one is non judgemental, in socio psychological perspective, this is the only explanation. Commoners of Andhra should understand the dynamics of statue installations and see the things through.
August Comte, father of sociology, says that society is an organism by itself and not sum total of individuals. On the day of million march the primal force of Telangana was expressed. It would be a blessing, if the social scientists of India study this phenomenon to understand the nation and guide in its policy and planning, instead of leaving the nation in the hands of blinkered bureaucrats and petty professional self seeking politicians.

The beaten DGP & His debased drama
It was a glorious day for Telangana. ‘Million March’ is a thundering success. The sinister plot of the evil trio of Governor, CM and DGP was stopped in its tracks. The Telangana people romped home to Tank bund hoodwinking the unprecedented police dragnet and roared like lions, taking the avowed oath. The beaten police were gawking at them while they made merry. It was a resounding slap on the face of all Andhra administration. The DGP, Aravind Rao with all his swagger and conceited arrogance had to bite the dust. He was made a bloody fool in his own game by the redoubtable Telanganites.The administration resorted to most ruthless police action at Village, Mandal, Distrct and State level to prevent people coming to Hyderabad for the March. They wanted to make it a dismal failure, to avenge their failures in the hands of Telangana people earlier. They have binded over, taken in to custody and arrested about a lakh people throughout the state. They made a big research on the leadership and detained key people at all levels. They even had to resort to the most shameful act of binding over University girl students. They erected road blocks at every conceivable point throughout the region and in The city and viciously prevented the people to go to the March. This could be the most despotic police action in the history of the state. Yet the rank and file of Telangana people, depleted of their leadership by the detention of police, rose to the occasion, improvising the means to circumvent the barricades and descended on Tank bund at the appointed time. Later much of their leadership also found their way to the venue. It was the triumph of the will of Telangana people over the tyranny of State government.
Now let us ponder over the discordant incidents that took place at Tank bund.
1. The angry protest against the congress MPs is not surprising. If the JAC leadership was present adequately at the time, the incident would not have blown up so much. But it was a natural reaction of a beleaguered Telanganites for the earlier theatrics of these honchos and their Party. There is no need to blow it out of proportion, as our andhras want it. This was acknowledged by the chastened MPs themselves. It would be better, if T-Congress elements learn a suitable lesson from out of the incident.
2. The matter of breaking of the statues and destroying the cameras of journalists in the process is a serious matter. It is not serious because it is a sacrilegious act as some puritan thinkers are saying. The composition of statues on Tank bund was an exhibition of Andhra chauvinism, installed by that megalomaniac NTR. It was the heartburn for Telanganites and was a dent on their self respect. Though many Telanganites do not support the vandalism, they will be very happy and wish in their hearts of hearts to remove some of the undeserving andhra statues and replace them with more deserving legendary figures of Telangana.
The catch here is, whether it was done by Telanganites? The JAC is too puritanical to allow that kind of activity. All the Telangana groups were harassed by police to no end and were struggling very hard to find their way to Tank bund, guarded by about 12000 Police. They were not certain, whether the proposed March woud take place or not. It is also doubtful whether they have the wherewithal and audacity to carry out such a daring act? This act might have taken not less than one hour time.How come that police have withdrawn from the site of the act and have allowed it to happen in all that time. It sounds very mysterious, that such a heavy presence of police with ruthless intention would have failed to notice it unless they deliberately overlooked it. In the first place when so much herculean effort was made by police to prevent people to come here, why they have so easily let people on to the Tankbund at the time of this happening?
The circumstantial evidence suggests that, It could have been planned and executed by the police to discredit Telangana Struggle and subject it to more draconian treatment to suppress it. The utterances of DGP, that Maoists would have an hand in it gives credence to such a possibility. If Telanganites did it, they would have targeted the statue of K B Reddy the butcher of Telangana in 1969, first. Telanganites have nothing against Krishnadevaraya, Annamayya etc, and they definitely will not attack S.Pratap Reddy. The vandalism is reprehensible and definitely is not the handiwork of Telanganites. The responsibility for the incident entirely vests with the DGP.
3. The incidence of destruction of vans of TV9 and Ntv is another serious matter. These two channels were not behaving resposnsibly towards Telangana and its struggle. They were very callously trying to scuttle Telangana struggle with their andhra bias since a very long time. They were inviting this kind of trouble with the tacit support of all andhra government. They got it for their un professional and un ethical work, as the saying goes ‘as you sow so you reap’. They deserve much more serious treatment, than this to make them mend their ways. It could also be the handiwork of Police, to discredit Telangana Struggle. There is no need for Telangana people to regret much on the incident.
The DGP has utterly failed in his gargantuan attempt to prevent the ‘Million March’. Now it appears that the andhra administration has hatched a plan to make use of this ‘March’ and created the incidents on Tank bund to bring in a measure like ‘President Rule’ to suppress Telangana Struggle or something of that sort. At least now all the T-Congress elements come together and present a united front with their High command.
