Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar kickstarted his Jai Andhra Pradesh campaign with a power-packed speech aided by a two-hour long PowerPoint presentation on Friday evening.
Deriding the Telangana movement and accusing the pro-Telangana leaders of misquoting and misrepresenting Jawaharlal Nehru's view on the formation of the state, he launched a tirade debunking the claims of the Pro-Telangana activists and alleged that they were making tall claims on baseless facts.
Training his guns on Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) president KCR for misleading the people of Telangana with baseless statistics, he alleged that KCR, who had opposed the zonal system and GO 610 in the Assembly when he was in TDP, was now provoking a certain section of the population to fight for what he had shunned earlier. He exhibited old video footage of KCR to highlight his point.
PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, who also attended the meeting, said that the Congress would not stand for individuals or regions and urged Seemandhra TDP leaders to come forward to take up the cause of Samaikya Andhra. He also promised to apprise the Congress high command of the feelings of the people of Samaikya Andhra.
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, Telangana Congress leaders fumed over the meeting and the presence of PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana.
